One night changed everything for bachelor Justin Bertolli. A womanizer at heart, never quite ready to settle down, he meets the woman who would change his life forever. Ambra Taylor is that woman, but is she all that Justin bargained for?
Told from a male protagonist point of view, A Mortal Indiscretion delivers wholly unique narratives that don’t succumb to the same old recycled concepts. Everything unravels in Justin’s world. Although Ambra is a vampire, she is the vulnerable one of the two characters, providing a refreshing twist on standard tales. She is not waiting for her prince to come save her on his white horse. She simply desires love, to feel human love again and will do anything to protect the love of Justin.
When Justin discovers the truth about who and what she is, will he still love her? Will he still want her? Find out, as their hearts collide in this epic tale of love.
Fabulous book. Out of the ordinary and unusual love story/vampire book. Very well written and a big read which had my attention from the beginning. Love the characters and plot. Was juicy, exciting and hated to put down. Wanted to keep reading and reading but didn't want the story to end.

I have just finished reading this book and I loved it. I was completely captivated by the whole story ... The skill of the writer was her ability to make you feel that you were actually watching their romance unfold opposed to reading about it. ... If you love a brilliant romance twists and turns along the way, then this is an absolute must read . . . you won't be disappointed.

From Chapter Fifteen

“What is on your mind?” she asked me softly.

“I am not really sure. I… I…”

“It is because of what I am isn't it,” she whispered so softly I almost didn't even hear it.

“I think we should talk about some things. But it isn't just because of you, it's me too,” I said and she looked up in my face. I took her hand and led her to the table.

“What do you want to talk about?”

“I don't know. I really don't know where to start.”

"Just say it Justin. You want nothing to do with me,” she said.

“You are wrong. Dead wrong. I want to be with you. It's just there are so many questions I have running through my brain. I can't stop them.”

“Well. Ask me. I have nothing to hide from you. I love you Justin.”

“I guess one of them would be… What… What are your plans for me? What do I mean to you?”

“I am not understanding what you mean.”

“We have said that we loved each other. So where does that put me? Are we planning to stay together, forever? Or is this just a little vacation I am taking from life?”

“I want to be with you, from now on,” she said plainly.

“I want the same thing. But are you going to stay with me when I get older? You know, when I turn into some wrinkled, dried up old guy?”

“I will love you still. I will love you forever.”

“But what if I get sick on you? I could go out there and drown in that ocean. That guy you so nicely got rid of… He could've taken me out. I know that. What would you have done if you had woken up to find me dead or drowned in the water?” I pressed. I knew what was running through my mind. I wanted to know if she had plans for me. Plans to turn me into what she was.

“You are fragile. I realize that. But you mean everything to me. I love you as you are… A warm loving human being.”

“Yes, but what will happen when I die? Tell me. Are you gonna look back on me as a warm memory? Like one of your old faded photographs on some mantle. That guy that you used to love?”

“Stop it Justin! I will not have you speak of these things. You will never be a distant memory. Never!”

“Wolf was right Ambra. You are wasting your time with me,” I said, looking down.

“Why do you think I am wasting my time? I love you and if I only have a few precious years with you, then it is worth it. You are worth it.”

“But you know, I am going to die one day. Maybe sooner than later. And you are okay with that?”

“Justin, maybe when you die… I will die too. I cannot bear the thought of being without you, not anymore.”

“I want to know if you thought of turning me into what you are?” I just put it out there.

She looked at me and her mouth dropped.

“No Justin! You do not know what you are saying.”

“Yes I do. And I want to know. Has it ever crossed your mind?”

“I have told you how I feel about that. I love you, I cannot kill you!”

“Ambra. I think we should talk about it. I would do it to be with you. I swear, I would,” I said suddenly, shocking myself.

“Justin! Do you know what it means to be what I am? Have you heard anything that I have said to you? I am dead. You don't want that! You can't want that!"

“I just think that we should talk about it is all. Not make a decision.”

“I will not even think it!”

“But baby. I would let you do it to me. I have thought about it. You could show me everything I needed to know. I know you would. I could be with you, all the way.”

“You would be dead. No more would you see the sun, eat or drink that wonderful wine. Yes, you would be with me, holding my hand in the vast land of darkness and death. Not as you are now, a hot blooded man. A man that I respect.”

“So, you would lose all respect for me because I'm asking you to do it? It means nothing to you that I am even offering my life to you?”

“I do not want you to offer your life. I want your love, for as long as I am allowed. That is all.”

 “I could love you forever!”

“I thought you already did!” she snapped.

“You know what I mean!”

“Yes I do. And this conversation is over. I will not discuss this any further.”

“Oh I see! You gave it to Wolf! But you wouldn't do it to keep me. I guess you would rather have him hanging around you for all eternity. Not the man you love… Now that would be totally out of character for you,” I snapped back, I didn't mean it.

About Barbra E. Ross

Author Pic
Barbra E Ross lives in Michigan and is a nurse by day, lover of fiction at night. When people ask me what my book is about, I pause a moment because it is not so simple to describe. It is a vampire romance, I say and then, I pray that doesn't scare them away. Because what are books really? I believe that books are a way to escape the daily routines of life.
I wanted to take an ordinary man and put him in fantastic situations. To bring a bit of fantasy down to reality. It is a love story at it's heart. If I can take the reader on a journey and give them a laugh, cry, or simply bring a smile to their face, then it is all worth it. This story helped me through rough times in my life, and I can only hope it will do the same for the reader.
